Max Nuyen is the lead attorney in the Immigration section of the TN Visa Law Center. He received his law degree from Boston College and his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley, where he graduated with honors.
Mr. Nuyen has been assisting clients since 1998, representing a variety of businesses from Fortune 500 companies to major newspapers, television stations to construction companies, hotels and manufacturing industries, local governments to songwriters and banks to hospitals. His immigration practice provides the full range of immigration services on an international level, and specializes in employment-based and family-based immigration matters. He assists families with matters such as immigrant and non-immigrant visas, permanent residence, citizenship, and asylum, to name a few. He has the expertise to provide services for employment-based visas, such as manager transfers, professional visas, investor and trade visas, entertainment and sports visas, NAFTA professional status, health professional visas, temporary need visas and permanent residency through employment. He also advises on rights of foreign workers, discrimination issues, and avoiding employer sanctions.
Mr. Nuyen has the unique ability not only to represent employers in immigration matters but also to provide any related labor/employment law and litigation services. He possesses the litigation experience to assist with motions, appeals and other immigration court proceedings.
In his immigration practice, Mr. Nuyen serves individuals and families as well as companies wishing to employ foreign born workers. Mr. Nuyen has represented many individuals and companies in various fields and industries, including construction contractors, manufacturing companies, heavy equipment distributors, food packagers, medical waste disposers, industrial warehouses, and trucking concerns. He regularly advises companies on compliance issues and how to avoid employer sanctions. He is well versed on the requirements of the I-9 compliance statutes. In addition to performing internal audits, he trains human resources personnel on understanding and meeting the legal requirements of the I-9 compliance statutes. He has spoken at numerous seminars and workshops on various immigration matters. He also prepares employer compliance manuals to ensure that all immigration procedures are uniformly applied throughout a company.
In his daily practice, Mr. Nuyen processes executive and manager transfers, professional visas, investor trade visas, NAFTA professional visas, and employment based and family based permanent residency petitions. He also makes regular appearances in immigration court on behalf of clients.
Mr. Nuyen served as a Captain in the Marine Corps as a judge advocate at MCB Camp Pendleton, where he helped establish a free legal clinic for military members for immigration related matters. The clinic has gone on to assist thousands of military members. For his contributions to the Marine Corps legal community, he was awarded the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal, the highest non-combat personal award for an officer of his rank.
